The 2011 Hurricane Season was a memorable one for Cecil County. Two major storms and several other "close calls" kept the County and its Emergency Response Community on its toes. Flooding rain, straight-line winds, and rising riverbanks created a hazardous end to our summer. The extreme weather caused severe damage in several areas and obstruction of services to the residents and visitors. An enormous amount of effort went into responding to and recovering from the storms by emergency professionals and governmental personnel. Cecil county residents showed a remarkable capability of resiliency combating the effects of the Season. Though many community members are still feeling the effects of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, as a whole, our Cecil County prevailed.
