Cecil County EMS operates 4 advanced life support quick response units 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to supplement the response of our 9 volunteer fire departments. Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art emergency care with skill, compassion and dignity to the citizens and visitors of Cecil County who are ill or who have been injured. We have been proudly providing service for 20 years, starting in September 1988. Cecil County EMS responds to approximately 11,000 calls annually.

We currently utilize 4 Ford Expedition QRV’s stationed throughout the County. One of these units is assigned to the Shift Commander, who is responsible for the daily operation of the shifts. The division also maintains a Mass Causality Trailer capable of handling 25 patients and a John Deere Gator modified to carry a fully immobilized patient.

The department values its close working relationship with the local medical community. Our Physician Medical Directors, Dr. Andy Aswegan and Dr. Ashok Subramanian, are board certified emergency medicine physicians with Union Hospital, located in Elkton. Dr. Aswegan is an active participant in the department’s QA/QI program and evaluation of the treatment modalities utilized by the department.
