During an emergency, officials will tell you what is happening using the Emergency Alert System (EAS), sirens, and/or loudspeakers, and door to door notification. if you hear a siren, turn into an EAS station. Additionally, up to date emergency information will be posted on this website.

The Emergency Management Division is responsible for coordination and oversight of intra-county and regional collaborative domestic preparedness efforts. This division’s primary focus is on programmatic and planning initiatives to increase effectiveness through the four phases of disaster; mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Emergency management personnel are responsible for training, coordination, and response of all County Emergency Operations Center staff. The Director of Emergency Services serves as the sworn Emergency Manager and staffs the division with a full time Emergency Readiness Manager and a part-time Emergency Planner.

Program initiatives include areas such as radiological emergency response planning, disaster debris management, natural hazards preparedness and response, special needs population identification, and all-hazards exercise design.
