Cecil County Freezing Weather Plan Activation Extended Through January 7

January 2, 2018

Cecil County’s Freezing Weather Plan, first activated on December 26, 2017, has been extended through January 7, 2018 based on the current weather forecast. Under this plan, an emergency motel voucher system is being implemented to respond to freezing weather for vulnerable homeless residents of Cecil County. Limited motel funds will be used until exhausted.

The Cecil County Health Department, Department of Emergency Services, and the Department of Social Services collectively determine when the Freezing Weather Plan is activated. This information is posted to the websites of each agency. Additionally, notice is sent to the Cecil County Inter-Agency Council on Homelessness e-mail group. People needing shelter can come in to the Health Department, located at 401 Bow Street, Elkton or the Department of Social Services, located at 170 East Main Street, Elkton. Those who need "after business hours" assistance should contact the Department of Social Services at 410-996-0100 and wait for the prompt for the on call staff person. For more information, call the Health Department’s Core Service Agency at 410-996-5112 or the Department of Social Services at 410-996-0100.
