Did you know that the Paramedic program offered by Cecil College in conjunction with DES is accredited? Do you know what that means?

The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP) is the accrediting agency for EMS. It is sponsored by a number of EMS organizations--the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) and the National Association of State EMS Officials (NAEMSO), among others.

The National Paramedic (NRP) certification requires successful completion of both a cognitive and psychomotor exam which covers the entire spectrum of EMS care. The images you see are show the success rates of our students who took the exam and how many became Nationally Registered as a Paramedic within one year.

Accreditation is one of the most important factors when predicting success on the national certification exam. Success on the national certification exam is important because, in most states, you cannot become a paramedic without first passing that exam. So, in essence, attending a nationally accredited program has been shown to help you advance in the field of EMS.
